Major Features

• New Reports are tested, revised, and integrated into the mainline.
• We’ve added a Reverting Soon report under Contracts —> Report, under the Routine Reports section. This routine report button includes contracts reverting within the next 6 months, organized by territory and then by purchasing party. It excludes contracts whose “Reverted” checkbox is already checked on the Extended Rights tab (on the assumption that you’ve already confirmed those publishers wish to allow the rights to lapse).
  • Note that this report will also include contracts with reversion dates before today—sometimes quite far in the past, if your agency hasn’t been using the Reverted checkbox! You can avoid this by marking the “Reverted” checkbox on the relevant ancient contracts (we can help you do this in bulk, just contact [email protected]).
  • In the meantime, if you’re only interested in contracts reverting soon, you can always use a Find to search for more sane reversion dates (e.g. specify a range of “9/1/2022…3/15/2023” in the Reversion Date field) then run the report manually using the new Summarize By Territory button, outlined immediately below.
• Also in Contract Reporting: To improve the relevance of any other foreign rights searches you perform manually, we’ve also added a Summarize By Territory button under Report Listed Contracts.
• [TK] We’ve added a list view of Clients.
• We’ve added the ability to export a PDF or spreadsheet enumerating all titles currently on submission, by territory. This is available in detail or summary view from the Projects —> Reporting screen.

Minor Features

• A Revenue By State report is now available to all clients from the Money screen. This summarizes the amount paid out to authors organized by their state of residence, as well as the taxable gross associated with those payments. Some clients’ accountants request this for tax purposes.
• In the Projects page, contracts whose scheduled reversion date has passed indicate that in their Status column. Contracts whose “Reverted” box is checked on the Extended Rights tab indicate that in the Status column too.

  • The idea here is that, if you’d like, you can use the Reverted checkbox to confirm that you’ve in fact followed up with the publisher and they in fact intend to allow the contract to revert.

• Contract Reports now include a “Reverted” flag if the Reverted checkbox is marked on the relevant Contract’s Extended Rights tab.

Improvements

• In the Commission Report, under unusual circumstances, after speculative future commission amounts had already been calculated and cached, later changes to the contract’s gross commission could fail to invalidate and recalculate the speculative commission amounts. In those cases, anticipated commissions in the Commission Report would (incorrectly) reflect the original contract terms. This is resolved—resolving potential discrepancies in projected commissions.
• In Contracts, per client request, reversion date calculations now take leap years into account rather than using 365-day years.
• When you view an author’s details on the Dashboard and in the Clients screen, we now display the agent’s full name instead of just their initials.
• The Contract Report now is less aesthetically horrifying.
• In New Reports —> Deposit Breakdowns, we’ve added a column for amounts paid to outside payees.
• In Projects —> Report, routine reports’ tooltips have been corrected to more accurately describe their functions.
• In the Reverting Soon Report, titles are now grouped by language as well as by territory.
